This year, the Season of Service (S.O.S.) program will be in its 5th year and is set for February 18-April 2. As we enter this Lenten season, we are reminded that Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, sacrifice and almsgiving. With this year being a Jubilee Year of Hope, Season of Service is a great way to put our faith into action. Last year, teams comprised of well over 500 volunteers participated in acts of service to their community or church.
Projects for Season of Service are only limited by the imagination. We live in a world where there are many needs around us so it should be somewhat easy to define a project from those who find themselves without shelter, those who may go without food, those who are alone or isolated. From the physical to the spiritual, there are needs around us where we can gather a group together, and in service, make a huge difference in the lives of people and our parish communities. Some of last year’s projects included making and delivering bibs to a local nursing home, filling holy water bottles for Easter, cleaning rose beds for a church, participating in a community meal project, cemetery clean up, and more!
