The Diocese of Alexandria is currently engaged in a pastoral planning project entitled, “Together as One Church:  Embracing a Future of Hope.”  We are evaluating the current and future needs of our diocese.  Because it is anticipated that some realignment will result from this project in 2026, all of our priests were asked to remain in their current assignment for one more year.  Those whose terms are expiring will be appointed to a one-year term.  The following appointments were made to fill the position as Catholic chaplain for Rapides Regional Medical Center as Father Macgrace Onwumere, SMMM, was withdrawn by his order earlier this year and are effective July 1, 2025:

Father Jason Gootee, Pastor of St. Mary Church, Winnsboro, and St. John Chapel, Columbia, will become the Catholic chaplain assigned to Rapides Regional Medical Center.  He will reside at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.

Father Robert Johnson, Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marksville, will become Pastoral Administrator of St. Mary Church, Winnsboro, and St. John Chapel, Columbia.
