Father Robert Garrione dies

Reverend Robert Garrione, 69, of Alexandria, passed away on Oct. 19 at Summit Retirement Center in Alexandria.

Born on February 24, 1950, in Salina Kansas, Father Garrione was ordained a priest of the Roman Catholic Church in 1989. Father Garrione served as Administrator of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Campti and its missions; Parochial Vicar at St. Frances Cabrini Church and Principal of St. Frances Cabrini Parish School in Alexandria; as well as Parochial Vicar at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and Chaplain to the Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Father Garrione was an effective chaplain at Rapides Regional, and was a gifted scripture teacher for adult classes while in Alexandria. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gilbert Max Garrione. He is survived by his brothers Larry E. Garrione, Sr., and Gregory J. Garrione, plus nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Remembrance was offered for Fr. Bob by all the priests of the diocese as they concluded their annual retreat at Maryhill Renewal Center on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Solomon, Kansas. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Solomon, Kansas.
