Sponsored by the National Catholic Educators Association, Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Schools typically observe the week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members.
Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to Church, local communities and the nation. This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.

Events and Open Houses:

St. Frances Cabrini School, Alexandria:

Sunday- Celebrating the Parish
Students attend 11:00 a.m. Mass in uniform; Teachers will receive blessing at the Mass
BBQ dinner served in gym

Monday- Celebrating the Community
Begin collection of items for Lily of the Valley Ministries
Lily of the Valley Ministries will provide a presentation to the students Monday afternoon.

Tuesday- Celebrating the Students
Grandparents Day Mass at 8:00 a.m. with reception to follow
Grandparents will then tour the school
Open House for prospective families 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Wednesday- Celebrating the Nation
Patriotic Rosary will be recited for Our Nation

Thursday- Celebrating Vocations
Students will be visited by religious, deacons, and priests from the diocese in their classrooms

Sacred Heart School, Moreauville

Sunday, Jan. 27: 9:30 a.m., Catholic School Week Mass, Students, Faculty, and Staff are asked to attend Holy Mass at Sacred Heart Church.

Monday, Jan. 28: Celebrating Our Community
Classes are asked to write letters to community leaders promoting Sacred Heart School.
Scholastic Book Fair Begins: “DINO-MITE! STOMP, CHOMP, and READ” is this year’s theme.
In appreciation for a successful NUMERONE FUNDRAISER there will be a basketball game beginning @ 1:00 p.m. Snacks for students will be provided at that time for each student to celebrate CSW.
“My Louisiana” door decorating contest for the entire school.

Tuesday, Jan. 29:
Student Appreciation Day – Free Dress Day – Theme: “Patriotic”
Jr. Beta Club Induction 8:15 a.m. – Gymnasium immediately following assembly.

Wednesday, Jan. 30:
Sacred Heart School’s Open House: DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
Book Fair Family Night – 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
“Parent and Volunteer Appreciation Day”. Students are encouraged to make Thank You cards for room mothers, and volunteers that help our school with various ministries. Faculty and staff are asked to bring a tray of appetizers for our parent volunteers.
PRO LIFE RALLY – Lunch Recess – Sponsored by Columbian Squires and The Congregation of The Children of Mary.

Thursday, Jan. 31: 
“Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day”. Dinner Plans to be announced.
Social Studies Fair – PK-8. Faculty will choose topics and mediums for competition. Judging to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Friday, Feb. 1: 
“Celebrating Our Faith Day” – Catholic Schools Week MASS – Celebrating also vocations, our nation, our families, along with our volunteers and supporters, our faculty, and staff. School community procession will be held before Mass. Traditional Balloon Launch following Mass.

Spelling Bee for all grades at 1:00 p.m.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor School, Alexandria:

Sunday, January 27:  10:30 a.m. Mass

Monday January 28: Meet and Greet for prospective New Families in the Divine Providence Center from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, January 30: Open House from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. At this time, you can tour the school and see the classes in action and the heart of the school, our students!

St. Mary's School, Natchitoches

St. Mary's will participate in Catholic School's Week with various activities-All School Mass followed by Josh Blakesley Band, Public Rosary, vocations day, and school-wide blanket collection for local nursing home residents.
