Mission

The Office of Religious Education and Training assists the Bishop in supporting catechetical leadership, and  parish ministries for the Diocese of Alexandria. Working with pastors, parish, and school personnel, we endeavor to help develop and affirm catechists as well as offer resources in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Opportunities for catechist formation are offered through the diocesan office and in some parishes.

Resource Center

The Office of Religious Formation and Training offers a Resource Center at the St. Joseph Catholic Center, 4400 Coliseum Blvd. in Alexandria.  The Library at the Catholic Center is open to the public.  It is a tremendous resource for all who want to learn about the Catholic Church.  It can be accessed from 8:30am – 4:00pm, each Monday - Thursday, and from 8:30 - noon, on Fridays. Books and videos can be checked out.

Anyone who would like to donate a book to the Resource Center from the Religious Education 'wish list' can go to the webpage below, scroll down, and choose a book. When one of these books is purchased online it will automatically be sent to the Diocese. http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/2TZBR7GTTAI30
