The Hispanic Ministry of the Diocese of Alexandria works to help Hispanic immigrants overcome the barrier of language and culture, facilitating their gradual integration into the North American Catholic Church and society. Through this ministry, the Diocese hopes to provide Catholic Hispanics with a more enriching faith experience. The Hispanic Ministry also works to attract those Hispanic immigrants who have left the Church back to the Catholic faith.

Hispanic Masses have been established in several parishes in the Diocese of Alexandria. These Masses serve to develop and strengthen the spiritual and cultural values of the Hispanic Catholic community. The Hispanic Masses continue to widen the ethnic diversity of the Catholic Church and American society as a whole.

If you are interested in serving Christ through the Hispanic Ministry, there is always a need for bilingual volunteers to help Hispanic immigrants in the process of gaining citizenship. Volunteers could assist individuals by helping them fill out INS forms, by explaining terms and by helping them prepare for exams. Professionals in the legal, medical, counseling, sports and arts fields could also be of tremendous assistance to the Hispanic Ministry. The need also arises periodically for volunteers to assist with community services during times of crisis. Please contact the Hispanic Ministry office for more information.

El Ministerio Hispano de la diócesis de Alexandria ofrece ayuda a los inmigrantes Hispanos a superar las barreras de lengua y cultura, para facilitar su gradual integración en la sociedad y en la Iglesia Católica de Norte América. La diócesis, por medio de este ministerio, quiere ofrecer a los Hispanos Católicos instrumentos para su crecimiento espiritual y un mayor enriquecimiento de su fe.

Se han establecido Misas en Español en varias parroquias para promover el fortalecimiento de los valores espirituales y culturales de la comunidad Católica Hispana. Si estás interesado en servir a Cristo como voluntario en este ministerio, encontrarás una gran variedad de necesidades. Voluntarios bilingües pueden ser de gran ayuda a inmigrantes que desean entrar en el proceso de legalización, asistiéndoles al llenar las formas de inmigración y al preparar los exámenes correspondientes. Profesionales en los campos de lo legal, la salud, la consejería, deporte y artes serían una ayuda muy valiosa.
