History

St. Francis of Assisi Church was established nearly a century ago in the once active and bustling small river town of Waterproof, LA off Highway 165. With the decline of the town our church members are few during the winter months, but we enjoy a greater participation in the warmer months due to the visitors from the surrounding lakes which we fondly refer to as our “lake people.” In the later 1960’s the original wooden structure was demolished and the brick church which exists today was built. Mass is offered every Saturday at 4:00 p.m.  All are invited and receive a warm welcome.
